Using Snipping Tool Feature in Windows 11 for Screenshots
- On your keyboard, press Windows logo key + Shift + S at the same time. The desktop will darken, which will be the indicator that you have enabled the Snipping Tool feature.
- Alternatively, you can type snipping tool in the Windows search bar, and selecting the application from the search results.
- When you click and drag your mouse, a brightened rectangle will appear on your screen as you drag. Click and drag over the desired content on your screen you wish to copy.
- Once you un-click you mouse, the screenshot is automatically copied to your clipboard. A notification also appears once you're finished taking a screenshot. You can paste this snipped screenshot in an application that supports the paste feature (like Microsoft Paint, or most Microsoft Office applications).
Using Snipping Tool Feature in Windows 11 for Recordings
- Open the Snipping Tool by typing snipping tool in the Windows search bar, and selecting the application from the search results.
- In the top toolbar, press the Record button, then press New.
- Click to drag the screen capturing rectangle indicating the portion of the screen you wish to record.
- Click Start (you should see a 3-second countdown before your recording begins.
- Once the recording is finished, press Stop. A popup window will appear, allowing you to save your recording (by default, it will be saved in the Videos folder found in File Explorer).
Installing Windows 10 Snipping Tool Version through the Microsoft App Store
- You can download the Windows 10 version of the Snipping Tool Application from the Microsoft store. You can either open the Microsoft App store through the application on your Windows device, or by going to this link: Microsoft App Store
- Once at the App store, type in snipping tool in the search bar. The tool you will be looking to install will be displayed in a screenshot below:
