Overview
This article shows the steps to configuring a new IMAP email account on Outlook.
Procedures
To configure Outlook 2010-2013 to use IMAP to connect to your RPI email:
- Start Microsoft Outlook 2010-2013.
- If the system does not prompt you to create an account, click the File tab. An Account Information window should appear, as shown below.
- Click the square next to Account Settings and select Account Settings from the pull-down list.

- Under the Email tab, click New.
- Select the E-mail account option and click Next.
- Select the Manually configure server settings or additional server types option and then click Next, as shown below.

- Select the Internet E-mail option, and then click Next.
- An Add New Account window will appear. Fill in the User Information, Server Information and Logon Information fields as shown below, using your RCS userid and email address. You may choose to have your password saved if you prefer; otherwise, a pop-up window will appear in a moment prompting you for your password. Do not check the box to “Require logon suing Secure Password Authentication (SPA).
- Click Next.

- In the remaining pop-up window, Account Settings, double-click the new account you have just created; a Change Account window will open. Click the More Settings… button in the lower right corner.
- An Internet E-mail settings window, as shown below, will appear. Click the Outgoing Server tab, and check the box next to the My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication option.

- Next, click the “Advanced” tab, and enter the following settings, as shown below:
Incoming server (IMAP): 143
Use the following type of encrypted connection: TLS
Outgoing server (SMT): 587
Use the following type of encrypted connection: TLS

- Click OK.
- Click Next.
- Outlook will test the settings and try to connect to the server.
- If this is successful, the window will show these tasks as being completed and you can now click Close, and then Finish.
