How to configure a new IMAP email account in Outlook 2016
Procedures
To configure Outlook 2016 to use IMAP to connect to your RPI email:
1.Start Microsoft Outlook 2016. A Welcome to Outlook 2016 window should appear. Click Next.

2. In the Add an Email Account window that appears, select the Yes option, and then click Next.
If the Welcome to Outlook 2016 Screen does not appear:
1. Click File, then click Account Settings, click Account Settings again, and then click New…

2. At the “Auto Account Setup” screen select the Manual setup or additional server types option and then click Next.

3. Select the POP or IMAP option in the resulting window and then click Next.

4. Fill in the User Information, Server Information, and Logon Information:
User information: Your name: enter your RCS userid and your RPI email address.
Server Information: Account type: IMAP; Incoming and Outgoing mail server are both: mail.rpi.edu
Logon Information: enter your RCS userid and RCS password.. Check Remember password if you wish. Check the box for Require login using Secure Password Authentication (SPA). Click More Settings.

7. An Internet E-mail Settings window will appear. Click on the Outgoing Server tab, and then select the My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication and Use Same settings as my incoming mail server options.

8. Click the Advanced tab in the same window, and change the following settings, as shown below:
Incoming server (IMAP): 143
Use the following type of encrypted connection: TLS
Outgoing server (SMTP): 587
Use the following type of encrypted connection: TLS

9. Click OK, then click Next.
NOTE: At times the above settings do not stick and you will need to go back in and check and possibly redo the port settings for the incoming and outgoing servers.
The Test Account Settings windows will appear and as long as successful click Close.
If Send test message fails, go back to Step 8 to see that Outgoing Server Information is correct.

10. When the Add Account screen appears, click Finish.
