Overview
Within Blackboard, links to individual Mediasite presentations or to entire channels can be added to any course.
This article contains information on how to add a single presentation, how to add a channel, and how to tune the search filters to find the correct presentation/channel.
Procedure
Add a Single presentation:
- Navigate to https://lms.rpi.edu and authenticate to Blackboard using your RCSID and password.
- Select the course in which you plan to include Mediasite content.
- Confirm that Edit Mode is ON
[Title bar of the Course page, with a red arrow pointing to the upper right where the Edit Mode is: "On" is selected.]
- Choose 'Mediasite Content' from the Build Content menu
[Content page in Blackboard, with the Build Content menu selected, and the very bottom item Mediasite Content highlighted with a red arrow pointing to it.]
- The LTI connection to Mediasite will launch. The search filters default to presentations which are owned by the requester. Utilizing the Search box on this screen will only return videos which fit those two default filters.
[Add Video page in LMS with Search Results, a pagination button, and options for sorting and filtering.]
- If you are searching for content which has been recorded by the Multimedia Services team in a classroom and shared with you, you will need to adjust the filters in order to search for it.
- In this example, a search has been completed using only the default filters.
- To adjust the filters, select Shared With Me to view content shared by the Multimedia Services team, or Channel to find a channel that you or the MMS team has created, then click Apply. NOTE: You can search for presentations or channels, or select All to search both at the same time.
- To include a presentation, click either Link Video or Embed Video and the video will be included as the most recent item added to your content. If you select Display in Course Channel, a link to a channel for your course will be display on the sidebar, with all videos you have chosen to add to it.
- If a presentation shows in the search results as Private Video, choosing to link, embed, or include it in the course channel will automatically reset the security on that presentation from Private to My Organization in order to allow it to be shared with your course.
