When a Blackboard course site is created by copying a previous instance of the course AND that course contains previously added Mediasite content links, a ‘bug’ is introduced:
Faculty will be able to click on links and access media within the LMS; but, enrolled students in the new course will be “bounced” back to Blackboard’s My Rensselaer home page.
What is happening:
The LMS is attempting to access the Mediasite content authenticating against the previous site’s course_id. Since current students do not check out as enrolled (in the previous course) access is denied.
The bug is the failure of the LMS to force the links to pass the new course_id in the copied course without intervention.
Adding a new content link to the copied course forces the passage of the new course_id for all links in the site. You will need to link to a Mediasite presentation from the 'new' course so that the system rewrites the call to the previous instance.
- Add a link to Mediasite presentation.
- click and test link
- delete recently added link (if desired)
How do I know it worked?
Mouse over the content hyperlink in your browser to observe the target URL.
It will look similar to this:
Take note of the value of the course_id term and verify that it matches the value of course_id in the address bar.
