Overview
You can access Zoom by web portal, Mobile App, and Desktop Client. This article describes how to download and sign-in using the Desktop Client for windows.
Note: There are different features on the Zoom Desktop Client and Mobile App than the Zoom web portal.
Procedures
- In the address bar, type https://zoom.us/download. Press Enter.
[https://zoom.us/download typed in the web address bar.] - Under Zoom Client for Meetings, click Download.
[The Download Center web page displays.] - The Zoom executable file will begin downloading.
- In the bottom left-hand corner, click on the executable file.
- Click Open.
- The zoom app will begin installing.
- When the install is complete, a Zoom dialog box displays.
- Click Sign In.
- Click Sign In with SSO.
- Type rpi-edu in the Company Domain text field.
[The Zoom Cloud Meetings pop-up displays.] - Click Continue.
- You will see the Rensselaer Shibboleth Identity Provider sign sign-on.
- Enter your RCS ID and RCS password.
- A web page will then open, and you should see a pop-up window. Click on the Open Zoom Meetings button.
- Next, you will see the Zoom desktop client.
- In the address bar, type https://zoom.us/download. Press Enter.

[The Download Center web page displays.] - The Zoom PKG file will begin downloading.
- Double-click on the PKG file.
- Follow the Zoom Installer wizard to complete installation.
- When the install is complete, a Zoom dialog box displays.
- Click Sign In.
- Click Sign In with SSO.
- Type rpi-edu in the Company Domain text field.
- Click Continue.
- You will see the Rensselaer Shibboleth Identity Provider sign sign-on.
- Enter your RCS ID and RCS password.
