Overview
In order to optimize the performance of the LMS Blackboard system, to ensure that storage space is used efficiently, and to minimize the financial impact of increasing disk storage space, DotCIO will be implementing the following course retention policy:
Details
- LMS Blackboard course sites will be available within Blackboard for a rolling four (4) semesters from the end date of the term in which the course was taught. After that time, the courses will be archived and removed from the LMS Blackboard system. This includes all files, grades, assignments, quizzes, surveys, links, videos and anything else associated with the course site.
- The archived courses will remain available for restoration for a period of five (5) years after they are removed from the LMS. If during this period a course needs to be restored, for example, for a grade dispute, the instructor of the course will submit a ticket to the LMS Team and every effort will be made to restore the course.
- After a course has been archived for five (5) years, the course will be permanently deleted from the archives and will no longer be available for restoration.
LMS courses that will be immediately archived and removed are courses from Fall 2019 semester. Courses from Spring 2020 semester will be archived the beginning of June 2021 and then removed from the LMS.
