Overview
Steps on how to create a new Webform.
Procedures
Login
Go to https://webforms2.rpi.edu/cas and login with your RCS ID and password.
Note: You must be connected to the VPN
Create webform
- Click on MY FORMS
- Click + Add webform button
- Add Title
- Status is set to Open so webform can accept submissions. (See also, Schedule a webform to open on a specific date.)
- Click Save button
Build webform
Elements (fields) - used to collect information
- Common elements
Text field, Text Area, Email, Number, RIN, Telephone, URL, Checkboxes and radio buttons, and File uploads (documents, files, images). - Composite elements (New!)
- Address – includes street, city, state, zip fields
- Contact – includes name, address, phone, email fields
- Name – includes first and last name fields
- Add Elements

- Click + Add element button
- Choose an element and click Add element button
- Add Title (required) and Description (optional)
- If element is required, check Required box under Form Validation
- Click Save or Save + Add element
- To preview the webform click on View tab
- Repeat 1-5 for each element
Form Submissions - When someone submits a form, the submitted data will be sent to the email(s) specified in Settings, Emails/Handlers
- Add email(s)
- Click on Settings tab
- click on Emails / Handlers
- click on + Add email
- scroll down to > Send to
- in the To email field, select Custom to email address... from dropdown
- Enter email (multiple emails addresses should be separated by commas).
- Scroll down to Save.
- Click Test tab to test submissions.
- Confirmation Message (text user sees after submitting form)
- Click on Settings tab
- Click on Confirmation tab
- Scroll down to Confirmation settings, add Title and Confirmation message
- Scroll down to Save.
Displaying Webform
Introductory content - a general description of the form, as well as any special instructions (optional).
- Click on References tab.
- Click on link under Title and then Edit.
- Write introductory content in Body field.
- Click Save
Schedule Form to open and close (optional)
- Scroll down to Webform settings
- Choose Scheduled option
- Select Open and Closed date and time.
- Scroll down to save
Publish/Share URL
- click View tab.
- The URL for this page can be share or published
Make Edits to elements on webform
- Under Webform (below field), click here link
