In version 2.1 of ARTS, an option was added that generates a special URL that allows people to connect to the URL, authenticate via their RCS credentials, and "badge in" (with a key press - no card needed). This may be useful to take attendance for online events, or for people to express interest in events. The resulting action will appear in the ARTS reports as if the person had swiped their card.
Procedures
These instructions assume you have already created an event. You can add this function to any event, including Course Events.
NB: This feature has not had extensive testing, please TRY and Test the link before using this in production.
- Go to the ARTS V2.1 tool at https://apex.cct.rpi.edu/apex/f?p=149 and Edit Event
- From the list of events, select the event of interest using the "Edit Event" link.
- On the Event Overview page (just opened), towards the bottom of the page, there are 3 switches. The center one, is labeled "Remote Check In". Set it to Yes and press the "Apply Changes" button.
- A few lines below the switches, a line labeled "RSVP Url" will be populated with a URL. You can distribute this URL to people, and if they go to it, they will (after they sign in), be presented with a red button to "RSVP". Pressing that gives them the same function as badging in at an event.
Note - if the event is set up for collecting user information, that process will then start, using whatever has been defined for that event.
You can also set up text stanzas for "RSVP_Splash" - the text that is displayed before they press the RSVP button, and "RSVP Exit", for the text displayed once they are "done".
