Overview
This article describes the best practices on how to secure your Zoom meetings. This will be broken into two sections. What your can do before your meeting starts and what you can do during your meeting.
Before Your Meeting Starts
Procedures to Enable Waiting Room
- Sign in to the web portal.
- Click Settings.
- Click the toggle button for the Waiting room.
Procedure to Disable Personal Meeting ID
- Sign in to the web portal.
- Click Settings.
- Click the toggle button for Enable Personal Meeting ID.
Note: A pop-up warning will display and you should be aware that turning this setting off makes existing PMIs and meetings scheduled with PMI invalid.
Procedure to Change Auto-Generated Passcode
- Sign in to the web portal.
- Click Meetings.
- Click Schedule a Meeting.
- In the Security section, in the Passcode text field type your desired characters.
- Click Save.
Procedures to Only Allow Registered or Domain Verified Users
During Your Meeting
Procedures to Lock Your Meeting
- Start your meeting.
- Click the Security button.
- Click Lock Meeting.
Procedure to Manage Participants
- Start your meeting.
- Click the Security button.
- Share Screen: Disable screen sharing for those times you plan on doing a demo or lecture only and do not anticipate to collaborate with any of the attendees. This feature could prevent unwanted interruptions.
- Chat: Disable chat if it becomes distracting or unproductive.
- Rename Themselves: Disable rename themselves to prevent attendees from changing their name to something inappropriate.
- Unmute Themselves: Disable unmute themselves for the times when the background noise becomes too distracting
Procedure to Remove a Participant
- During a meeting, click Participants.
- Mouse over the participants name you wish to remove and click on More.
- From the fly-out menu click Remove.
Note: A pop-up will appear to warn you that once the participant is removed, this attendee will be unable to rejoin this meeting.
