Adaptation
Not all course items you had in Blackboard Original will transfer in its original form to Blackboard Ultra. Most of the time these differences come from careful choices made by Blackboard production in conversation with system admins, instructors, and learners. If the feature is used infrequently, then Blackboard has changed the content item. Additionally, many design choices are made to promote optimal usability, accessibility, and consistency for instructors and learners.
Review the list below to learn about some tips and tricks for adapting your material easily for the new Ultra Course View.
Learning Modules and Folders
All descriptions (Folder, Module, Assignment, Document) are limited to 750 characters and cannot include special formatting, bulleted lists, file uploads, links, etc. To recover this information, create a course page, using Document, and copy/paste the information from the Original course.
Wikis and Blogs
Wikis and blogs do not have direct replacements. An alternative to wikis, you can create interactive Google or Microsoft Word documents which your learners can work on together. For blogs, you can use a discussion forum or have students create free websites as blogs and link those sites to your course.
Tests
Not all test question types have been replicated in the Ultra experience. Use the following list to locate questions you will want to rework into a different form:
- Either/Or
- File response
- Jumbled sentence
- Quiz bowl
- Ordering
- Likert Scale (Are available in Forms)
- Hotspot Questions (See below)
Hotspot questions are available in the Ultra experience, but you will need to recreate it because the image/test question connection does not transfer effectively.
