Add Course Content
Each document in Blackboard can be a resource with information for your learners. You can take already existing content and add it to the document pages, or you can type and added your own using the content editor menus.
Arrange the Document Page
The LMS offers the features to add content using content blocks. Each block serves a purpose and can be found in the Blocks menu as seen below:
Use the block features to create a grid for your page. You can make a standard page with one block stacked on top of another or you can create columns and sections as seen on this document page here. The content editor allows longer content (e.g., multiple "pages") to be broken into chunks (e.g., topics, subtopics) with a clear visual structure.
Editor Blocks
Content - opens the content editor. Cut and paste content directly into the box or type out the course content. Use the icons in the content editor to add any additional stylistic information you would like.
Knowledge Check - embed test questions into the page to ask learners what they already know about a topic or to determine if they can properly apply what they have learned so far.
File Upload - add files from your desktop, such as images, infographics, or documents for learners.
Cloud Upload - upload documents or images from a cloud account.
Content Collection - link documents or images from within the course content collection.
Image - Add an image. Upload an image from your device, choose stock images from Unsplash, or if your institution uses the AI Design Assistant feature, you can also generate images. Add a caption under the image.
Divider - add horizontal lines between items to create learning chunks visually for your learners.
Enhanced Blocks
Add styled blocks to your course content using the style content blocks icon. With these blocks, you can add a specific icon and color around your text to visually block information. With these blocks, you can spotlight questions (blue), tips (yellow), key points (purple), and next steps (green).
Tips and Tricks
Arrange a document page to resemble a handout and print it out. Let your learners know they can also print out the document pages if they would like.
Drag and drop the content blocks to arrange the page, including stacking blocks vertically.
