Using the "test 1080" zone to practice

The  “test 1080” zone is a single-zone channel which is not broadcast anywhere on campus. It is a playground for new and experienced users to test slides, as well as a resource for backgrounds, templates, and other media.

Slides created and tested within this zone can be copied to live zones for production.

Rensselaer Provided Training

Training is provided on campus by periodic webinars (currently on hiatus), or by request. A recording of the March 2026 webinar provided by Jim Evans is available at the following link (Shibboleth authentication may be required): March 2026 Carousel Training Webinar

Carousel Essentials Webinar

Training is also provided by Carousel through periodic Carousel Essentials webinars, which run approximately every 2-4 weeks, with a Higher Ed specific webinar usually available once per quarter. You can sign up for one of the Carousel Essentials webinars at this link: Carousel Essentials

Carousel Academy

Additionally, Carousel provides the Carousel Academy, which is a self-guided training through both video and written text, and can answer many questions and be used as a valuable resource: Carousel Academy
