The hostmaster function at Rensselaer is provided by the Information Technologies Infrastructure department, a Division of the Chief Information Officer (DotCIO). Hostmaster services include maintaining domain name mapping for users across campus, maintain the campus' Domain Name Service (DNS), and locating and verifying existing host names.
However, the primary function of hostmaster is to manage network names and IP addresses for users of the Rensselaer computer networks. Find out how you can obtain an IP address!
Please note that Rensselaer's hostmaster does not accept verbal or voicemail requests for IP addresses, so please direct your requests via e-mail or by campus mail to VCC 215. Be sure to include all of the pertinent information in your IP request.
