Content Page
When you enter a course from the base navigation, you will arrive first at the landing page. In Blackboard this page is called the Content page. From this page, you can navigate throughout the course and create the learning modules, files, and pages your learners will access for the course content. While courses may vary in design depending on the instructor and subject, some common elements exist.
- Navigation Bar
- Course Content
- Student Preview
- Faculty Information
- Details and Actions
Navigating the Content Page
By default, when you first access the course, you will see these items.
- Navigation Bar: The course navigation bar provides access to key areas of your course: content, calendar, discussions, gradebook, analytics, and groups.
- Student Preview: The student preview shifts your course into your students' perspective, so you can view the course like your learners do, so you can see how they will navigate the content and assignments.
- Course Settings: Are set by the Admin and cannot be changed.
- Course Content: The course content outline is listed here. Add learning modules, folders, links, documents, assessments, group work, discussions and other course content here.
- Course Faculty: Course information and your profile is shown here. Direct students to this area to help them find the information they need.
- Details & Actions: Instructors use this area to access items like the course roster, progress tracking, changing the course banner image, and check attendance.
Full Screen View
You may see the screen with a different orientation when you are editing or designing your course. This full screen view collapses the side menus to give you a wider view of the course content pages. Select the menus on top of the screen marked here in red to open them for viewing and editing.
