Course Navigation Bar
Ultra courses use the Navigation Bar as the main navigation. These tools are located at the top of the screen. When you first enter an Ultra course, you will see the content area of your course tools by default. The other tools you see in the toolbar are calendar, announcements, discussions, gradebook, messages, analytics, and groups. This Navigation Bar is sticky, providing you with quick access to navigate to different areas of your course while still being able to access this key navigational menu. The Student Preview feature found in the toolbar allows instructors to view the course just as their students do.

- Content – tab brings you back to home page.
- Calendar– set up the calendar for events associated with the course, such as assignment due dates, speaker events, and other events you want your learners to know about.
- Announcements – write and schedule announcements to be sent out to the entire class. Announcements create a popup on your course screen, a message in your learners' activity streams, and can be emailed out to everyone.
- Discussions – create discussion forums and threads to encourage discussions and conversations amongst your learners.
- Gradebook – access gradable items, student grades, and other gradebook analytics to assist you with assessment.
- Messages - send out messages to individual participants in your class or the whole group.
- Analytics– analyze your class data including learner grade percentages and how often learners are accessing the course.
- Groups - create a space for learners to work together in groups on Blackboard.
Pro TipYou will notice that some of the course tools in the Navigation Bar have the same name as tools found in the base navigation; specifically, calendar, grades, and messages are universal tools. Accessing one of these tools from the base navigation will give you access to the global view of it, showing you the tool's information for all courses in which you are enrolled. When you access these tools from the context of a course, you will only see information that relates to the specific course you are viewing. |
