WebEx Tips for Host/Instructors
Before the course
- Have all applications you need for the meeting to be already opened and running on your computer (i.e. PowerPoint slides, PDFs, …)
- If you do not have a moderator, adjust your Chat and Participants sound. (This will give you a chime when a participant types anything in chat and if they entered or exited the classroom)
- Login to Webex
- Start a meeting
- Click Edit > Preferences …
- Select your desired preferences
Recommendation: For sound choices I would scroll all the way to the bottom: Windows Users Account Control
5. Click OK
During Session
PowerPoint
- Do not use Share File, this will turn your powerpoint into an “outline” and take away all the formatting
- Use the opened application
- Powerpoint slide is already open on your computer
- Click Share content
- Share (on the desired powerpoint)
- You can use the annotation tools in webex but they will need to be erased every time before moving onto the next slide.
- Hover your mouse to the top of the monitor to display meeting toolbar
- Recommendation: Use the PowerPoint tools
- Right click on the slide, click Pointer Options > Selected desired annotation tool
Uploading Files for Participants to Download
- In a meeting, click File > Transfer…
- Click Share File
- Select desired file
Participants to Download Files
- The File Transfer pop-up will display, select the desired file > Click Download…
Displaying Video
- Click Share Content > Share File
- Select desired video file > Open
