Overview
The Personal Storage Limit defines how much space each member of the Rensselaer community has to store recorded Webex meetings in the cloud. The default amount of storage for each user is 40GB.
It is important that all members of the Rensselaer community be aware of how much storage they consume, and ensure that unused recordings are either removed or downloaded and archived in a timely manner. This helps maintain optimal performance and availability of Webex services for the entire community.
Procedures or Details
Viewing Current Storage Usage
The current storage usage is available using the Webex website. Note that recordings which have been shared to you are not counted against your storage; only recordings you own are counted.
- Navigate to https://rensselaer.webex.com and click Sign In.
- Enter your email address then authenticate via Shibboleth using your RCSID and password.
- Select Recordings from the menu on the left.
- In the upper right, the amount of storage currently used and the total amount available are visible.
Deleting or Downloading a Single Recording
It is recommended to download any recordings before deleting, if you may want an archive for the future or to share them via a different system.
- Follow the instructions above to navigate to the Recordings page on the Webex website.
- Locate the recording in the list to delete or download, then click the appropriate icon on the right. Hovering over an icon will show a tooltip to show whether it is Delete, or Download.
- Note that recordings you can not delete recordings you do not own.
Deleting or Downloading Multiple Recordings
It is recommended to download any recordings before deleting, if you may want an archive for the future or to share them via a different system.
- Follow the instructions above to navigate to the Recordings page on the Webex website.
- To the left, select each recording you would like to Delete or Download. Please note the same action will be applied to all selected recordings.
- After one or more recordings have been selected, buttons to Delete or Download all selected recordings will be shown. Select the appropriate action.
Storing Downloaded Recordings
Once recordings have been downloaded, they may be uploaded to another sharing system.
- Mediasite is the campus video streaming solution. All Faculty have automatic access to MyMediasite, and Staff may request access. Mediasite is a secure solution for sharing video with the campus community in a manner that prioritizes an online streaming experience.
- Box is the campus shared file storage system. Media placed in Box is best used for downloads as opposed to interactive viewing of the video.
- YouTube is an option for sharing Webex recordings which are intended for public consumption.
