List View displays the course items that can receive grades such as assignments, tests, graded discussions, Attendance, manually created items, and other graded activities available in the course.
Use List View when you want to begin with a gradable item rather than a particular student. It can help you confirm that expected items appear, review basic item information, and identify grading or posting activity that may need attention.
Open List View
List View organizes the Gradebook by item so instructors can compare graded activities with the course plan and identify items needing review.
To review gradable items:
- Open the course Gradebook.
- Select the List View control near the upper-left corner.
Review the gradable items and available columns. Select an item when you need to open more information.
Review Item Information
The columns available in List View help you check how graded activities are organized. Depending on the item and course configuration, you may see:
- Item - Identifies the assignment, test, discussion, Attendance item, manual item, or other graded activity.
- Category - Organizes the item and may affect grade calculations when categories are used.
- Due date - Shows when students are expected to complete the activity.
- Grading status - Indicates whether submissions or grading work may need attention.
- Post - Helps you recognize whether entered grades still need to be posted.
You may also be able to sort or rearrange items and open an item’s menu for additional actions.
Compare the List With the Course Plan
Review the items in List View against the activities and assessments students are expected to complete. Check whether:
- Expected graded activities appear.
- Item names match the names students see in the course.
- Due dates match the schedule and student-facing instructions.
- Categories and point values support the grading plan.
- Duplicated, unused, or unexpected items need investigation.
- Hidden items are intentionally unavailable to students.
- Posting indicators require attention.
If something appears incorrect, open the related item or settings before making a change. An unexpected Gradebook entry may be connected to a course activity, copied content, an Attendance item, or an older item that is still included in grading.
