AN IMPORTANT NOTE: As of January 2, 2019, DotCIO staff are working to upgrade the campus' password-changing program. As a result, users will not be able to change their RCS passwords until further notice.
We will update this notice when the program becomes available again.
To change your password, you must use the on-line password-changing program. Changing your password is important for system security and for your own security as well. Your RCS account gives you access to many campus services.
When you change your password, note that it might take up to 15 minutes for the password change to propagate across the various RCS systems.
Creating a Strong Password
- Your password must contain from eight (8) to thirty (30) characters and include some digits or punctuation marks. Longer is stronger.
- Pick a password that you can remember without writing it down.
- Do not use common words, or words or names that relate to you personally.
- When you change your password, you will also need to change it in any programs that might store it for you.
If you would like additional help in choosing your RCS password, or if you forget your password and need a new one, please stop by the VCC Help Desk in person. You can request a new password online by contacting the Help Desk staff via e-mail. You must have a non-Rensselaer e-mail address to do this; please refer to Obtaining a New RCS Account or Password for more information.
