RPI's wireless network provides a secure, reliable, and efficient infrastructure. The campus is covered with a mix of wireless technologies which is constantly being refreshed as funding allows. We currently have 802.11n, 802.11a, and 802.11g capabable access points distributed throughout campus and anticipate newer deployments of 802.11ac later this year.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: The 802.1x configuration option will not be available after December 31, 2013. Use the WPA2 configuration setup.
To use this service, you must
- have a wireless card installed (Rensselaer laptops come with this),
- your operating system must support WPA2 Enterprise, and
- you must have a valid RCS userID and password. Please refer to the RCS Accounts section of this website for more information about your RCS userID.
ResNet and registrar scheduled classrooms have ubiquitous wireless coverage, and the rest of the core campus provides wireless coverage, although not necessarily full. Please refer to the color-coded floor plans for the exact locations and strength of signal within each building on campus.
