Setting a default Save Location
The default location for Microsoft OneNote is the C: drive, but if this specific computer crashes, everything on this drive will be unrecoverable. So the best practice is to setup the backup folder in OneNote to a network drive.
To change the backup folder in OneNote:
- With OneNote open, go to FILE - Options - Save & Backup
-
In the Save section, click on the file location next to Backup Folder and then click Modify...
-
Navigate to the file location that you would like to use as the backup location for OneNote (preferably a network drive - U or V ) and then click Select.
How do I save my files?
Notebooks in OneNote are saved automatically however you can change how often your files are backed up.
- Go to FILE - Options - Save & Backup
- In the "Backup" section, click the drop-down that indicates a time interval for backups and select the interval you would like.
To manually backup files or notebooks:
- Click Back Up Changed Files Now or Back Up All Notebooks Now depending on what you would like to do.
- Click OK.
