Troubleshooting: Recording Cannot be Searched on LMS or Viewed by Other Users

Overview

This issue may appear in one of two ways after you have recorded or uploaded a recording to MyMediasite:

1. When you Search for the presentation on Blackboard, it is not found.
2. When you provide a link to the presentation to someone to view, they receive an error that it is not available.

These two cases both indicate that the presentation is listed as Private (viewable only to you) and needs to be switched to Viewable (viewable by general population).

Procedures

To Fix for the Current Presentation

1. Log in to MyMediasite.
2. Open the presentation you would like to link to LMS.
3. On the right, click Edit Details.
4. Under "Visibility" select Viewable.
5. Click Save.

To Set Your Preferences for All Presentations

1. Log in to MyMediasite.
2. Beneath the Mediasite logo, click on the icon of a person and select My Settings.

3. Select Publishing from the menu.

4. Select your preferred default for both MDR recordings and MyMediasite uploads being viewable (true) or private (false). Then click Save.

Cause

The default setting for all MDR recordings and uploads is Private. This allows a user time to review their recording and edit it before it is viewable publicly. This may be over-ridden by a user in the preferences.
